What is SwissTalents ?
SwissTalents is the
generic name for Swiss scientists
abroad and foreign scientists
with strong ties to Switzerland as well as for both categories
once they have returned to Switzerland with international
experience.
SwissTalents is also the name of a database for which scientists
may choose to register.
Profile updates
require the use of a personalized password.
Finally, SwissTalents
is the name of the Website which integrates the database of
scientists, various types of information and other high added
value services. Each scientist decides individually which
elements of his/her personal profile stored in the database
will be publicly accessible through the Website.
Who can be a member of
SwissTalents ?
Members have a university degree or equivalent (Fachhochschule
/ HES). They are professionals in the physical, mathematical
and engineering sciences, life sciences and health, teaching
and humanities (law, business, social science, etc.) as listed
on the registration
form in the field Occupation.
Members are not necessarily Swiss nationals. However, they
have strong ties to Switzerland, have worked or studied there
for at least one year and are interested in cooperating in
the area of Swiss science and technology. They are invited
to describe their connection with Switzerland on the registration
form (step 4) in the field Activities.
Scientists who have returned to Switzerland for work are
welcome to remain members of SwissTalents and are invited
to describe their previous experience on the registration
form (step 4) in the field Activities.
Why should I register
?
Only SwissTalents members can participate in the Forum of
Swiss Scientists. They have a privileged access to eNews,
a set of free electronic newsletters, and to ScienceLink,
a Web directory for R&D, education and innovation in Western
North America. In addition, they may enjoy a free subscription
to the international edition of Vision, the Swiss science
and innovation magazine, receive invitations to various events,
take advantage of specific offers, participate in projects
and more.
Members are more than welcome to search
the database to initiate local or thematic sub-networks, identify
competences, find colleagues, etc., in compliance with the
site policy.
Can I use SwissTalents
without registering ?
Nonmembers have access to the data that each scientist has
individually agreed to make publicly available. The general
public is more than welcome to use SwissTalents to initiate
contacts, identify competences and talents, find partners
or future employees, etc., in compliance with the site
policy.
How is SwissTalents managed
?
The managers
of SwissTalents are Swiss Science and Technology Counselors.
They - and only them - have complete access to all data and
will manage it very carefully according to the site
policy. The technical maintenance and development
is done by the Science and Technology Office in San Francisco
with the support of various sponsors.
Are there additional resources
available ?
SwissTalents is part of a global concept including eNews,
a set of free electronic newsletters, ScienceLink,
a Web directory for R&D, education and innovation in Western
North America, and ScienceJobs,
the Swiss jobs Website for scientists. Additional links
will be added on a regular basis.
